Good Evening! I thought I'd start off with that greeting since the last greeting I had was from very early this morning. Overall, today wasn't that great as it was filled with technical mishaps. I woke up (for the second time) around 8 AM. I got ready for the day and ran some errands. I then went up to school as I had to stop by the library to get some articles for a class next month. I thought that shouldn't be a problem and could get it done in about an hour. Well the microfilm machines (both of them) didn't work well so I had to go to the net and look up the articles online. So, ok it was frustrating but I got it done. Class was ok but then I had to run back to make copies of the articles I got when I was in the library. Well the copier jammed about seven times and still wouldn't work. So now my students will need to look the articles up on their own. That isn't a huge deal but I was hoping to help them out. So by the time I was done at school it was 6:30 PM and I was frustrated. I decided to play my music real loud on the way home to cheer me up. I listened to some ABBA from the "Mama Mia" sound track. I know that probably makes me sound kind of girly but ABBA is such happy music it helped change my mood. One of my favorite songs, especially when I'm feeling in a funk is "Unwritten" by Natasha Bedingfield. If you haven't heard it, I highly recommend it. You can see the video for it on youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b7k0a5hYnSI With my epiphany I spoke about in my earlier blog, this song really hits the mark. I need to "feel the rain" on my "skin" and no one else can do that for me but me. (OK yeah I just sounded really, really corny but oh well let's roll with it lol). So with the 1 1/2 hour drive from school, I didn't get home until 8 PM. And I had not had anything to eat since breakfast and let me tell you: I was so tempted to hit fast food. I don't think I ever mentioned it but there is a Wendy's right when you make the turn off the road where campus is. And my favorite thing to do after teaching these long classes was to stop for a burger, fries, and a frosty. And yes I was tempted . . . but I didn't. I came home and had my normal dinner (two melt sandwiches, soup, broccoli and a skinny cow ice cream for dessert -- total points 14). As far as the illness goes, I am feeling a bit better. Not as many headaches today (except those damned broken machines at school) and it doesn't hurt to breathe any more. My throat hurts after teaching today but it is sometimes like that anyways. My left ear is muffled as I probably have an ear infection too. Right now I am sitting enjoying some hockey on the NHL Center Ice package for which I am a subscriber. I'm watching the Cinderella story of the year: The Phoenix Coyotes! They sold out their arena again tonight. So I hope this shows all the nay-sayers out there that wanted to move them to Canada (and nothing against Canada--I know you guys created the game but as an American I'm really happy when a US team takes off as hockey is like the fourth ranked sport here) that even in the desert you can enjoy hockey! So that is all for me for tonight. I am about to start my seven days of work (well eight if you consider today although school is my "other" job). Have a good night everyone and thanks for sharing in my outlandish day :p Jace |
