Its been a busy and hectic weekend so far. Friday night I went to Becky's Drive In (www.beckysdi.com) with a buddy of mine and we saw the double feature of "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" and "17 Again". I have been wanting to see Wolverine since it has come out but haven't had the time. Well Friday night was the night and although it was a busy day at work (I ended up working 10 hours) I got there in time. The great thing about the drive in is that you can relax and sit in your own car and bring some of your own snack (although I did get some goodies from Becky's concession stand :p). I have to say that I was quite disappointed with Wolverine. At one point I turned to my buddy and commented that the movie was boring. The beginning lacked action and the characters that were introduced didn't have much depth to them. Without spoiling it, the whole thing with Ryan Reynold's character was . . . well . . . disturbing and stupid. People laugh at me when I say that "17 Again" was the better of the two movies since that's not supposed to be a "guy's movie" but I have to say that the movie was great. The story was cute with somewhat of a moral. Zac Efron did a good job with his character as did Leslie Mann who was in the lead female role. It was a good movie. I was hoping that the gem of the night would have been Wolverine but oh well. Saturday was also quite busy, yet fun. Saturday afternoon I attended a PSWCS (Pennsylvania Star Wars Collecting Society -- www.pswcs.com ) meeting. It was at a friend's house and therefore close by. The meeting was a lot of fun with good food and great games. This was the first meeting I had been to in some time so it was great seeing everyone again. After the meeting I went to a baseball game. The Lehigh Valley Iron Pigs who are the AAA affiliate of the Philadelphia Phillies is the local team. We had tickets to sit in the picnic pavilion which is where the seats are picnic tables and you have an all you can eat buffet of picnic style food. All day I wasn't sure if the game was going to happen because it looked like rain. The rain, however, held off and we got to the game and ate. It was a really slow game with the Pigs not having any offense. Their opponents, the Gwinnet Braves, however, had scored four runs. In the seventh inning we noticed that the grounds crew had the tarp to cover the field standing by on the sidelines. That wasn't a good sign and soon after it began raining. Now I should mention it wasn't a normal rain--it started as a down pour. Since we weren't under any over-hang we got wet but made a mad dash for the pavilion where the food had been served. After waiting a little while we decided to leave and head home. So here I am today on Sunday. I was supposed to go to a Reading Express in-door football game tonight but I think I'm going to pass. I'm a bit tired and have a busy day ahead of me tomorrow. And beside that I haven't had time to get my place straightened up with how busy the last few days have been so I'm going to stay in today aside from some errands I need to run. I'm also going to work on my Vero post so that its done by the time we have RP chat tonight. On a side note, I had to take down the guest book. Almost daily I have been getting spam on the guest book which has been annoying. For those of you who are regulars here, you know my facebook page and email so you know how to get in touch with me. Take Care Folks! Jace |
